Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February, 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 kids born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes depended on food delivery for free from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran claims her father was drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and condescension. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to an area Catholic elementary school, and then began the high school system in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her freshman year, moved to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
