Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is both the first female vice-president as well as the highest ranking female official of the United States. She is a senator and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010, Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for health reform, federal descholaring of cannabis, a path for immigrants who are not legal citizens and the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. She is best known for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
